Marine Outfitter's Advertising Sign

SAILING YACHT HALF HULL made for advertising purposes in the shop of well known New York marine outfitters. Nice, catboat style, sailing vessel mounted on a backboard that is professionally hand lettered "F. W. DEVOE & C.T. RAYNOLDS CO'S/YACHT SPECIALTIES". The 20" model is white and natural wood with a deep green bottom. The beveled edge backboard measures 12" x 26". Condition excellent with all the original paint having acquired desirable age color and surface texture. Devoe and Reynolds merged in 1892. They were located in New York at the corner of Fulton and William St. and at the time were the best known manufacturers of marine paints and varnishes. This model once in the collection of Andrew Paterson, former editor of "Rudder Magazine". Handsome item that has a nice folky appeal.
