EARLY SCRIMSHAW CARVED TOOTH with views of ships on both sides. Front with a vertical, over the stern, starboard view of a ship under sail. The reverse with a horizontal port view of a ship under sail. 5" h x 2.5" w. Condition overall very good. Very desirable, deep age color being golden yellow mixing with orangish tones. Some red and light green coloring visible. Tooth was never boldly engraved but everything fully visible through the deep patination. Circa 1830-40.
