U.S. Navy Gravity Knife
Description

EXTREMELY RARE AND DESIRABLE TYPE NAVY KNIFE BY AMERICAN MAKER. Square tipped 3 3/4" l. blade etched "U.S. NAVY". Also stamped with maker's name "Miller Bros". Bone slab handles gouged and colored to resemble stag. Unique feature of these Miller Bros knives is that the handle slabs are held in place by three small screws on each side. The rare feature of this knife is how the blade opens by pressing the side lever while holding in a downward position so the force of gravity lowers the blade into the open position. Length when open 8 1/2" plus the brass lanyard bail. Condition very good having a full blade and legible etching. Miller Bros started business in Connecticut in 1863 and moved around until settling in Meridan where they flourished for several decades. This is very, very hard U.S. Navy knife to find.
