LAGE SAILOR'S FID MADE FROM EBONY WOOD that has a polychrome painted macrame, rope work, top.  Nice large size measuring 15 1/2"long. Diameter at the top a full 2". Fancy rope pommel painted in candy stripe motif using maroon and black paint that has its original varnish finish on top. Condition excellent. I bought this in 1978 from the great maritime dealer John Newton, Wiscassett, Maine. A really wonderful maritime antique.
