RARE PAIR OF RIGGING BLOCKS COMPLETELY MADE FROM WHALE IVORY. Each with two whale ivory sheaves and fitted with their original, canvas covered, strop with whale ivory thimble. Block shell made using 5 pieces of whale ivory that are fastened together using 4 peened brass pins. Length overall 4 3/8". Width 1.75". One block has attached a long length of early, 3/16" d. rope. Condition very fine throughout. Everything with an excellent, even age color. Rare to find these complete sets made only using whale ivory. Circa 1840.
